The Studio Nong International Sculpture Collective and Residency Program consists of 8 artists and educators from the Guangxi Arts Institute in Nanning, China, Kansas City Art Institute in the United States and Memphis School of Art in the United States. Formed through a shared interest in the traditions and techniques of figurative ceramic sculpture, each member has a singular approach, sharing an interest in past traditions of eastern and western practice as an innovative platform. The Studio Nong International Residency program produces work made in an atmosphere of intensive collaboration that allows each member of the collective to function simultaneously as mentor and maker.
